I’m recently very fascinated by how certain types of art styles can evoke emotions or convey them to the viewer.
To me this drawing makes me reflect on times in my life where I had to make a decision and I would sit and wait to long, almost to the point where the opportunity to choose would pass me by. It’s a fear, it’s the unknown, it’s knowing everything will be different, it’s knowing what needs to be done, it’s not knowing if it can be done. The nervousness, the subtle hesitantation, not because of doubt but because of the pressure around us.
The way his thumb is held to his mouth, the way he is looking and holding his body, it a limp yet firm position. Like he is sturdy yet about to fall apart. The shadows highlight this, and it touches me.
